October 2011: Star Group established in 1980 with flat glass trade. The company became a dealer of Trakya Cam in 1990, Star Group started to grow rapidly. Since the building of its own plant in 1992, Star Group started to meet domestic and international demand within its production facility. With the new Glass Production Plant in service since 1998, Star Group became one of the leaders of this industry.
Star Group produces glass products for interior or exterior decoration, glass for security purposes, glass for appliances and glass for photovoltaic systems. With a product portfolio in this range, Star Group has a very complicated production environment. The customer demands vary dramatically while stock-to-order production increases the complexity. Having a sensitive material as glass for the beginning and the ending, inventory requires special attention. With the increasing demand, a solid supply chain management solution is the key to succeed in this complexity. Knowing these challenges, Star Group started to look for a solution which can manage this scenario today and suit changes tomorrow. Looking for a knowledge partner for a long standing partnership.
Star Group decided that ICRON Technologies is the best fit. With an innovative vision, Star Group considered the blueprint phase as a special project, not just a phase in the implementation cycle but a complete analysis of the company to create the future Supply Chain roadmap. Collaboration of ICRON Technologies consultants and Star Group resulted with an extensive business blueprint document. After the approval of this document, the Star Group Supply Chain Management project started in August, 2011.
This project consists of two phases and ICRON Advance Planning and Scheduling solution will be implemented. In the first phase, distributed IT structure will be integrated; a new data collection system will be built. Scheduling model will be completed with the cutting optimization integration. Basic capacity allocation model will be also implemented and go live. In the second phase, scheduling model will be enhanced with the additional decision making variables and alternate scenarios.
