Digital Supply Chain
The digital supply chain encompasses the process of the delivery of digital media, be it music or video, by electronic means, from the point of origin (content provider) to destination (consumer). It’s a supply chain built on Web-enabled capabilities and off course it’s strongly related tot IoT or Internet of Things. Most of the supply chains use a mix of paper-based and IT-enabled processes. A fully digital supply chain is way more than the hybrid model, it fully capitalizes on connectivity, data integration and the information-producing capabilities of “smart” components.
The most important digital supply chain goal is enabling insights for increased efficiencies, getting rid of waste and enabling higher profits. Companies with a digital supply chain can move resources, assets, people and inventory easier at any given time. This with the clear goal to reduce costs by being more responsive to transportation and manufacturing challenges.
